Lewes Yacht Club Marina Rules
10-25-07

1. The Dock master is delegated by the Marina Committee to have authority over the day to day operation of the marina and must be obeyed at all times. This includes authority to request members to leave the marina. The Dock master’s office is off bounds without the invitation or consent of the Dock master. Refusal to comply with the marina rules, or requests made by the Dock master, may result in loss of assigned dockage and/or Lewes Yacht Club membership.

2. The marina is for the exclusive use of LYC members and their guests. A member must accompany guests at all times and shall be held responsible for any infraction of LYC rules or damages to LYC property by their guests.

3. All Marina services must be paid by cash, check, or approved credit card. Gasoline will not be dispensed unless the Dock master is present. There will be a daily dockage fee for members, non-members and transient boaters when renting dockage on a temporary basis. Please see the fee schedule posted in the marina office for dockage rates. LYC members may use available docks in accordance with the posted fee schedule and the Dock master’s permission. There is a daily charge for a boat owner connecting to LYC shore power for electricity. This charge does not apply to those using an extension cord for battery charging or use of power tools. A day is defined as noon to noon from one day to the next.

4. ALL UNOCCUPIED VEHICLES, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DOCKMASTERS’ MUST BE PARKED OUTSIDE OF THE MARINA FENCE. Any unoccupied vehicle that is obstructing member facilities, such as dry storage, or any of the marina operations, is subject to having the vehicle towed at the owner’s risk and expense. Loading and unloading are permitted. Boat trailers are to be parked in designated areas.

5. For the safety of all, no running, swimming or water fights are allowed in the dock area. Bicycles are not allowed on any piers or floating dock walkways. Parents will be responsible for their children’s compliance with marina rules.

6. Members with an assigned dock, in order to maintain continuous rental of the dock, must pay the full rental agreement fee for the year no later than January 15th of the contract year. Those with assigned dockage that do not intend to use their dock are requested to notify the Dock master or a member of the Marina Committee by January 31st of the contract
year. Upon being notified that the dock is available, the Marina Chairperson will contact members of the LYC Marina Dockage Waiting List and attempt to rent the dock for the full rental agreement price. If temporary reassignment is successful, one-half of the rental agreement will be refunded to the member with the contract for the assigned dock. A member with an assigned dock is not authorized to allow another member use of their dock. A member, who does not use their assigned dock for two consecutive years, by placing a boat in the slip that is registered to the member assigned the dock for at least 3 continuous months during the two-year period, will not have their Season Dockage Agreement renewed. A member with an assigned dry storage space who does not use their space for three consecutive months over a two-year period will not have their dry storage agreement renewed. This is only fair for those members on the dockage or dry storage waiting list. Agreements for seasonal dock rentals or dry storage are boat specific. Size and condition of all boats must be approved by the Marina Committee and/or Dock master prior to being placed in the assigned slip or dry storage space. Boats placed in both wet dockage and dry storage must be registered in the name of the renter of the dockage or storage.

7. Any member assigned a dock, who will temporarily not be using their dock, such as having their boat out of the slip for repair, is requested to advise the Dock master. This will allow the Dock master to attempt to rent the dock on a temporary basis to club members who do not have the opportunity for permanent dockage. This also helps our club financially. Members are requested to advise the Dock master, in writing, of their interest in short term dock rental. This helps the Dock master locate members who are interested in short-term rental. This also applies to dry storage.

8. Only LYC members are authorized to use the launch ramp. (LYC membership identification is required) A member may launch any boat as long as the member will be using the boat. It is not the intent to launch boats for use by guests without the member being aboard. Members launching their own boats must have a valid ramp sticker affixed to the trailer. Members using a non-member boat and trailer will be issued a temporary parking permit for use while parking on LYC property.

9. No washing of boats except on the wash down pad. Please limit your use of the wash down pad to 15 minutes.

10. Slip # 1 (next to the gas dock) is reserved for daily and weekly rental.

.

11. Non-floating (metal) minnow buckets, crab traps, eel pots, etc. are not allowed in the marina.

12. Each dock renter will be responsible for the maintenance cleaning and repair for his/her personal property i.e. dock boxes, hoses, etc. Never drive nails or screws into fiberglass docks or frame.

13. All dock boxes must be slatted for ventilation; owner will be responsible for preparing any area covered by a dock box for repair by the marina. No attached carpeting is to be placed on the deck.

14. No business, other than the LYC marina business, shall be run out of the marina.

15. A dockage waiting list and a Dockage Transfer list shall be maintained by the Marina Committee. These lists shall be posted at the marina and the clubhouse.

16. When a permanent dock rental is offered to a waiting list member, the member has the option to accept the assigned dock or drop to the bottom of the waiting list. If the dock offered, is unable to accommodate the member’s vessel, the member may refuse the available dock and remain in his/her position on the waiting list. This also applies to the dry storage waiting list.

17. A request for transfer of dockage shall be submitted in writing to the Marina Committee. The transfer list precedes the waiting list for assignment of dockage.

18. It is expressly agreed that the LYC is not responsible in any manner whatsoever, for the safe keeping or condition of owner’s boat; that there is no duty on the LYC to keep owner’s boat under surveillance or in repair; that the LYC shall not be liable to the owner or to any person for damage to or loss of the owner’s craft, its gear, tackle or equipment, or for damage to or loss of any automobile or other property of the owner or owner’s guests brought onto the LYC premises by anyone, from any cause whatsoever. Should the LYC, it’s owners, employees or others, voluntarily go to the rescue of the vessel, or take any action or lack of action, with respect to the vessel’s safekeeping or custody, which said actions owner hereby authorizes and invites, then in consideration thereof all such parties so assisting the vessel are hereby expressly released by the owner of and from any and all claims for malfeasance or nonfeasance with respect to the vessel or it’s gear, tackle or equipment or other property of the owner upon the LYC premises.

19. Reciprocity agreement with other clubs is limited to 6 times per year.

20. Complaints or suggestions should be presented in writing to the Marina Committee Chairperson.

21. Boat lifts or drive-on docks are not permitted.

The LYC Board of Directors may amend these rules and regulations. Changes shall be implemented by posting of the approved changes.
