LEWES YACHT CLUB
House Committee Report
January 2005
Greeting from your House Committee.
Wow!! We’ve just come off the opening of our new clubhouse in grand and exciting fashion. On Saturday December 4th, we once again hosted our annual Craft Fair and Soup & Salad Luncheon. The clubhouse was packed with throngs of diners, crafters and shoppers it was great to see so many people enjoying LYC hospitality again. On Sunday December 12th, an estimated 300 members warmed our club in the holiday spirit at our 1st annual Holiday Open House. A special thanks to Santa Ho-Ho-Ho, Jud Bennett who delighted children from ages one to one hundred with his special laugh, humor and warmth. Speaking of delight, here’s a big hug for Dana Orton and her crew of Santa’s helpers who kept over 50 LYC children laughing, playing, crafting and snacking in a terrific evening of fun. We also can’t say enough about our restaurant staff who warmed our hearts and tummies with their great food and impeccable service. The final and perhaps most important thanks, goes to you, our members for your laughter, friendship, compliments and support you are what makes this club special!

On Thursday, February 3rd, it’s Land & Sea again, then on Saturday February 12th, bring you sweetheart for a memorable Valentine’s Day celebration. On Thursday February 17th, not one, but a number of Celebrity Chefs will participate in the first LYC Chile Challenge. You’ll get to try from 5 to 8 great Chiles guaranteed to warm your heart and other body parts Vic promises some great accompaniments to go with this super meal! Finally, if you enjoyed the popular craft show luncheon, you’re going to love our Saturday lunches at the club choice of two great sandwiches, soup, salad, Non-alcoholic beverage and desert for one low price!
A couple other thoughts come to mind: If you’re planning on joining us for dinner, please call and make a reservation, even if you’re dining at the bar, this cooperation will greatly help in planning the number of meals and ultimately help control costs. For special events, we’ll post the dates reservations will be taken. For regular dining, you can make a reservation up to two week in advance. Remember we will be opening the restaurant and bar at 5:00 for early diners or for that special cocktail. We think our off-season dinning has a lot to offer our members; a great menu, some super specials, expanded hours and an opportunity to dine with friends in our spectacular new clubhouse. But, ultimately, the success of this venture depends on all of us. We’ll do our best to make every dining event memorable please come join us! As always, we welcome your comments, thoughts and recommendations. See you at the bar!
